That’s right, Lady Cougars are in Champions League. After the male cougars being in the league for five previous seasons, the girls are alive and kicking!

So what is Champions League? The teams that play in this league are mostly district champions. There is no cost to play so this league is available to more people. With this league there will be added games. In this league, team championship and MVP trophies will be awarded. Coach Melissa Brown believes that being in this league this season is going to be good for the team. Brown states, “This league brings much excitement as well as new talent and more competition.” Both Brown and the team feel that they will get better as the season goes on because of Champions League.

Veteran team member and Senior Emma Harnage states, “Because of Champions League, building confidence in freshmen and newcomers may be a little tougher than it has been in past years.” Coach Brown agreed. “Since there will be more competition it may be harder to be selected for the team because of all the talent I’m seeing,” said Brown. However, the team and Brown seem willing to put in the effort.

I think we have a fair shot at winning Champions League.

There’s no question that with the new league the lady cougars will have to adjust their strategy to work. “I would like to sub people out more during games and maybe take more breaks,” said Brown. “I think we have a fair shot at winning Champions League.”

The lady cougars are very excited to get back out there with their coach and the incoming freshmen. Let this be a sign that these girls are ready to work towards their coach’s expectations and their own. These lady cougars are ready to pounce!
