Durant volleyball recently held the Senior Night celebration to recognize six senior players whose high school volleyball careers are coming to an exciting end. This last home game of the season was played against King High School and the lady cougars won in all three sets.

For Senior Night, family and friends showed up in force to honor their lady seniors: Cristal Candelano, Hallie Harburg, Meghan Jellison, Ella Porter, Taylor Ritchie and Taylor Rubio.

The senior lady cougars started off with a special dinner together while the junior varsity and parents decorated the locker room and gym for these ladies to have a special night. When the seniors returned, it was very happy but emotional knowing it was going to be their final year being a cougar.

Senior Hallie Harburg who has been a part of Durant volleyball for four years said, “Being a Durant lady Cougar is about being a part of something more than yourself and learning what it’s like to be a part of a family doing something you love.”

After all the different emotions coming through, there was still a game to play. The girls knew this, and they pulled out the win. They won the first set 25-7,second set 25-5 and third set 25-9. Durant kept King under 10 points for all three sets, a very impressive performance and reason to be proud of their victory. Senior Taylor Ritchie said, “Being a part of Durant Volleyball not only made me a better player, it helped me to grow as a person. It’s where I have developed genuine relationships with my teammates, and I am so grateful for them.”

Senior Night was an amazing way to end Durant’s regular season. They ended the season with a 9-11 record. Seniors check out with the win!
